Henry Woodbridge Parton began painting as a young boy under the tutelage of his artistically talented older brothers, Albert Parton and Ernest Parton (1845-1933). He was born in Hudson, New York at a time when the Hudson River School style was the dominant aesthetic in American art. Parton’s body of work includes florals, figures, portraits, and landscapes, all of which demonstrate a characteristic careful observation of nature, originality of handling, and the skillful rendering of lights and reflections. Parton exhibited at the Royal Academy in England and the National Academy of Design, and died in New York in 1933.
